Scorecard Implementation Guide

What is an EOS® Scorecard?

The Scorecard is a weekly report containing 5-15 high-level numbers that give you an absolute pulse on your business. Unlike traditional reports that look backward, the Scorecard uses leading indicators to help you predict and prevent problems before they occur.

Why Scorecards Matter

The Power of Weekly Metrics

  • Predictive: Spot trends before they become problems
  • Objective: Numbers don't lie or have opinions
  • Actionable: Clear when intervention is needed
  • Accountability: Everyone knows their number

"The scorecard is the most valuable tool we've implemented. We catch issues 4-6 weeks earlier than before." - Typical EOS® implementer

Best Practices for Scorecard Success

1. Keep It Simple

  • Maximum 15 metrics (5-10 is ideal)
  • If you can't update it weekly, remove it
  • Everyone should understand every metric

2. Leading vs. Lagging Indicators

Leading Indicators (Predictive):

  • Sales activities (calls, meetings)
  • Production capacity
  • Pipeline value
  • Employee satisfaction

Lagging Indicators (Historical):

  • Revenue (last week)
  • Profit (last month)
  • Customer count
  • Completed projects

Aim for 80% leading, 20% lagging

3. Accountability is Key

  • One owner per metric
  • Owner reports the number
  • Owner drops issues when off track
  • Owner celebrates when exceeding
